Why Flags?

This campaign isn't just about flags - it's about who gets to exist in public spaces

Pride flags represent acceptance, community and love.

They are a symbol of loving who you are. They are banner for parents who want to show support for their queer children. A sign for teachers to hang in their classroom window for youth to know they will not be judged for their identity. They are a reminder of the history, struggles and successes of the LGBTQ rights movement. They are a sign of progress and we are not going back in the closet.

How The Pride Flag Ban Came To Be

March 2024

February 2025

March 2025

May 2025

In the last 8 hours of the 2024 Legislative session, Sen. Dan McCay tried to sneak in a pride flag ban three times through the legislature with a wolf in sheep's clothing approach: gutting another bill and swapping it for his pride flag bill.

His underhanded move was eventually defeated, although not before Sen. Don Ipson (R-St. George) tried to revive it in the last 20 minutes of the session.

Bill sponsors of House Bill 77, Senator Daniel McCay (Riverton)  and Representative Trevor Lee (Layton), released their bill, almost a copy/paste of the previous year's bill.

February 13: H.B. 77 passed the House Education committee 11-2-3.
